Post Body Modifications
From piercings and tattoos to dyeing your hair. From implants and botox to scarification.

My hair is dyed black, I have two piercings in my lower lip (snakebites), three piercings in the top of my right ear and I am tattooed. I love body modifications to make people look more awesome. I really like large tattoos, sleeve-style and things like that, but there are also some things that I would never do. For example, I would never get my face tattooed, or someones name on my body. But for the rest, I am pretty much pro-anything that makes you look better. If someone thinks that they will look better with breast implants, I won't stop them from getting them. I mean, I would rather look at nice breasts than.. not nice breasts (I'm not sure if those even exist on people under like... 40 xD). Of course there are some things that I like less than others, but I won't judge people just because they altered themselves.

And to all people that are going to tell me that I'll never get a job; I don't want to work in a place where I can't look the way I want to. I'd rather be poor than to lose my tattoos. They are a part of my mind that has been put on my skin, if people hate me for them, I will hate them back and want nothing to do with them. You can find them ugly, I don't care, as long as you still accept me, you can think whatever you want about me:)

So what do you people think about these things? Have them yourself? Hate them? How do you look at people that have them?

Greetings,

Your depressed buddy

I consider these things a way for people to express themselves and distinguish themselves as individuals. To be honest, I find it a very superficial (and sometimes dishonest) way to say, "This is who I am" (But it would more accurately say "This is who I want to be")

Before the time of tatoos (or clothes or anything I guess lol this is purely hypothetical) ppl had to talk to each other to know if they would be compatable with each other and share common ground. Or, they were born into a small tribe where they were forced to get along with and identify with each other. But now-a-days, our community is so LARGE that we can choose our own pack. And one of the ways we do that is by marking ourselves--either with tattoos, or with certain clothing--to have others find us and for us to find others that we would get along with. It is a way to find where we belong and who belongs with us.

The problem is, talking to a person is a much better and much more promising technique than going by outside appearences.

It is definitely something superficial!
I love the way they look on me, but also how they look on other people. You can see it like some kind of complex mating ritual that we as intelligent animals have made into these kind of modifications. I also want to attract people that have something in common with me and since these tattoos mean a lot to me (even if it's just the coolness factor), if someone is intrigued by them, chances are that we share something. Every time I see a tattooed girl I feel something special and that's the effect I want to have on certain others too.

But you should not think of all of this as replacing conversation, it just leads to conversation with, hopefully, the right kind of people.

Still, I most of all have them because I think it looks very nice and yes, also because of a certain image that goes with it. But changing yourself to who you want to be does not have to be dishonest. What would one have to do to be true to him/herself? There is no such thing, you just do what makes you feel comfortable and as a human you can't help but being influenced by others, whether it's conscious or subconscious.

I hope that you can see my point so that we can agree to disagree:)

Also, did you watch the latest amazing atheist vid?:P

I'm actually hoping to get a tattoo on my shoulder of the rabit from alice in wonderland with his clock (the cartoon) And no, not because of the new movie, which I adored, but because I've wanted it since I was a freshman in high school
